THE THING ABOUT SPURS IS THEY WILL ALWAYS LET YOU DOWN!

So, the unthinkable has happened, after being so far ahead of Arsenal we have drop to fourth and they have continued soaring up the league, taking our place in third as well as the great pride that most of us spurs fans felt for most of the season. We were third, proclaiming that Arsenal need to "mind the gap", and they have well and truly done so.

Wednesday saw a disappointing home draw to a average Stoke side, narrowly avoiding an embarrassing 1 0 home defeat. From the first whistle Spurs dominated, but did not really show the kind of attacking flair that earlier in the season had them compared to Real Madrid, in style of play at least. Garath Bale came close, hitting the cross bar, but other than that we had very few clear cut chances. Once again the defending was poor in the air and cost us dearly in the 75th minute when Jerome gave Stoke the lead. Rafa Van der Vaart took his goal neatly, converting a Bale cross with his head, but ultimately it was not enough and the game ended 1 1.

What does the season hold for Spurs now? We have been on one of the worst runs of form that we have had in the last 10 years, and where will it end. If we play the way we have been against Chelsea at the weekend, they will only be 1 point behind us and our Champions League spot for next year will be in serious jeopardy. The season is far from over, if we can get back some sort of form we could still have our most successful of the premiership era, but that is a big "if". Of course we have the FA Cup quarter final to look forward to, but i think a conversation i had earlier about getting tickets to the semi final against Chelsea may have been premature and now i fear, pointless. We will need to put in a much better performance to even stand a chance of reaching the next round.

Remembering the great performances that we turned out earlier in the season are now nothing more than a painful memory now. Painful in the sense that it dared us to believe, believe we could win the league, believe we could beat anyone, believe we would finish third. There is a reason the Spurs motto is "to dare is to do" and not "to dream is to do" but this team is neither daring or dreaming anymore and i can not see the way out. As Spurs fans we always like to blame someone else, but on this occasion there is no other party to blame, Redknapp and the players have let us down badly, very badly.

The season is far from over, but there are only so many matches that we can keep saying "we need to player better next week". Harry sort it out, before we end up having another disappointing league season finishing outside the top four.
